If you’ve been with me for a while, you know the drill: my birthday is coming up and I’m celebrating with Pay What You Want Week, the first week of May. If you are new around these parts, well, the same is still true. I’m turning 35 (halfway to 70, baby!) and I’m giving you presents. Well, just one present, to be specific. Pay What You Want Week is just what it sounds like. For the first week of May, the 1st through the 7th, you can schedule a Rolfing session with me as you normally would, but pay whatever you’d like when it’s all done. Want to pay in cookies? You can do that. Want to pay in fairy sprinkles? Totally an option. Want to pay with a song and a dance? I’m down. Want to pay a dollar amount of your choice? That works, too. The only rule is that you keep in mind that I share a 450 square foot apartment with a person, a dog, a cat, and three fish. I have no room for stuff. Please no stuff. (Fairy sprinkles don’t count as stuff.)

So go ahead. Schedule your Pay What You Want session for the week of May 1st through May 7th and I’ll see you then!

If I get another email telling me how I just have to market to my customers, right now, well, I’ll probably just delete it.

I get it already.  I know.  Everyone is (or soon will be) looking for interesting, unique, lovely gifts and if my customers see a special offer from me, they might just realize that my product, service, or whatever would just be perfect for that special someone.  I know.  And still.  It makes me gag.  All the selling and buying and stress and worry that’s tied up in the holidays.  Days where we should be focusing on feasting and family and gratitude and love and resting in the quiet dark.    I don’t want to contribute to the feeding frenzy.  So I’m not.

But.  I do feel super lucky to have the best clients in the world, namely you.  I’m so grateful that I love going to work every day.  As a big ‘ole thank you, I’m doing half-priced sessions for the first two weeks of November.  I want to encourage you to take care of yourself before the holidays start.  Before the madness of last-minute trips to the mall or tears shed over burned cookies or out-of-town travel making you nuts.  Take care of yourself first.

So for the first two weeks of November, Sunday the 1st through Saturday the 14th, all sessions are $60.  As a way for me to say thank you and so you can take care of you.  That’s it.  Happy Thanksgiving, and happy holidays in December.  Hopefully I’ll see you soon!

I’m turning 34! It’s not exciting at all, really, despite the exclamation point. 30 is exciting. 35 is exciting. Even 33 is exciting, for a nerd like me, since 3 is the square root of my favorite number and therefore, my second favorite number, so 33 is a fun number for me. (If you never want to talk to me again after I’ve outed myself as an extreme dweeb, I’ll understand.) Regardless, I can find nothing exciting about 34. But, it’s my birthday, and that provides excitement enough.

AND, for the 5th year running, for my birthday, you get a special deal on Rolfing! So, hopefully, you’re excited about my birthday, too. This year’s Pay What You Want Week will run from Monday, May 4th through Sunday, May 10th. In case you’re new to Pay What You Want Week (PWYWW), it’s exactly what it sounds like. You schedule a session. You come get a session. You pay what you want for said session.

This really is my favorite week of the year. It’s always so much fun to see old clients, meet new ones, and get presents all week! Flowers, and muffins, and acro-yoga classes, and paintings, oh my! So schedule away, my loves, and I’ll see you then!

Hey there!  So, it’s been a whirlwind of a ten days or so since I sent out that email about snakey sessions.

Thank you.  Really.  So much.  Like, a lot.  And then some more.  Thank you for all of your support.  So many of you wrote me kind words.  So many of you signed up for snakey sessions and came in with open minds.  I am so grateful.  I have the best clients.  Really.  Thank you.

That being said, I wanted to clarify a couple of things.

-No, I don’t have any actual snakes in the room with me.  So for those of you who are worried about that, you can exhale now.  I’m sorry I wasn’t clear on that in the first place.  I don’t even know if it’s legal to own a king cobra, but I certainly don’t have one in my possession.

-The pricing on all this got messy fast.  So basically it’s on a donation basis from here on out.  At least until we’re done with all 39 sessions.  $0 to $60.  I’m just grateful that people are showing up for me to practice with.

-I would love to have people come back for second and third snakey sessions, if they want to.  I’d love to hear your impressions of how this thing is progressing, if at all.  I just ask that you finish your first before signing up for the second.  Make sure it’s something you’re into before committing to a time someone else might want.

-Along the same lines, I’ve had some issues with people not showing up for sessions.  I know, they’re practice sessions.  I get that.  But I’m putting in the same amount of effort, care, and respect that I always put into my sessions.  I’m blocking out time and making sure I’m prepared mentally and physically to do the best work I can.  When you don’t show up, well, it makes me sad.  And frustrated.  So please, if you schedule a session, even a practice snakey session, show up for it.  Or at least call me to tell me you won’t be coming so I can head out to that barbeque I’m missing, instead of sitting in my office waiting for someone who’s not planning on being there.

-Snakey sessions are taking anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes, it seems.  I’m going to keep it at 2 hours so that I don’t feel rushed, but there it is.

-I’m thinking about putting together a survey or a questionnaire of some sort to see what you think of these snakey sessions, so be on the lookout for that.  In the meantime, if you’ve had a session and have any sort of feedback to share, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

-As of this moment, I’ve done 17 snakey sessions (with another 6 scheduled in the next couple weeks).  I feel like I’ve learned a lot.  I’ve come a long way.  And yet, there’s still a lot to be done.  Many more snakey sessions to be done before that magic 39 is reached.  So if you or anyone else you know wants to help me out with this project, I’d love to have you come in.

Lastly, I have to announce that this will be my last month practicing in Lafayette.  I’ve been extra conscious of where I’m investing my energy lately and I just can’t justify the drive up north every week.  I am so appreciative of every client I’ve worked with up there.  And that was my first office as I came out of Rolfing school, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.  But the time has come for my practice to be just in Denver.  Again, a big thank you to each and every person I’ve worked with in Lafayette over the last 3+ years.

That’s all I’ve got for you for now.  Thank you, thank you for your support as I experiment with this new energy in my life!

Hey, ya’ll.  Next week we’ll be getting into how and why I got into Rolfing in the first place, but first I have to tell you about the exciting events coming up in May.  As you may know, I’m leaving town (again!) today and I won’t be back home until May 16th.  O little town of Bethlehem, here I come!  The thing is, I’ll be gone for my (31st!) birthday, on the 12th.  Also, Rolfing® Structural Integration National Awareness Week (what a mouthful, eh?) is May 14th-20th this year.  Also, also, Ida Rolf’s 116th birthday is May 19th.  In short, there’s a lot (and I mean A LOT) to celebrate upon my return to the States.  So, without further ado, let’s do this thing!

Announcing Pay What You Can Week! May 19th through May 26th!
Are you as excited as I am?  If not, maybe you should be.

Here’s the deal:

As you well know, my session fee is normally $120.  You know what you get, right?  Rolfing and SourcePoint in one, magical hour-and-a-half combination.  My undivided attention.  Communion with your healing spirits.  Access to my healing guides.  Elbows in your glutes and IT bands (if you need/want that).  Feeling all light and yet grounded and also expanded and integrated for the rest of the day.  You know, that magical, I-just-got-Rolfed-and-now-I-feel-a-little-stoned feeling.  Not to mention better posture and alignment and less pain.  You know what I’m talking about.

Now, for the week of May 19th through May 26th, you get all of that, for whatever price you can afford.  What you think is fair based on what it’s worth to you and what’s in your bank account.  Magical, no?

There are endless ways to play with this, but let me just explore a few of them with you.
Obviously, you can come in for a session and Pay What You Can, which may be $40 and may be $120.  Simple.
Another possibility is you can PWYC for someone else to receive a session.  Give it as a gift.
Or, you can PWYC for your session, as well as someone else’s session.  A pay-it-forward-pay-what-you-can combo!
Or, if you’re feeling generous and able to do so, you can pay a little more than the regular rate of $120, with the extra going towards covering someone else who may only be able to afford $10.
Or, if today you only have $5 in your pocket but you know that over the course of the next year, you could afford more, you can give me 4 post-dated checks (for 3, 6, 9, and 12 months from now) and I’ll even send you an email before I deposit them.

A couple of notes to make sure this stays fun:
Everyone pays something.  This isn’t Theresa-works-for-free-week.
No bartering or trades this week.  Cash, check, or credit card, baby.
It’s this week, May 19th through May 26th, and this week (technically 8 days) only.  If you’re out of town this week, or due to deliver your baby this week, or have 7 graduations and a wedding to attend this week, or just can’t make it this week, I’m sorry, but you’re out of luck.  (Also, I don’t work Thursdays and Fridays.  So take that into consideration.)
Once the spots are filled, they’re filled.  Don’t call me on the 25th and complain that I’m booked on the 26th and you didn’t get your chance at PWYC week.  You’re getting plenty of heads up and you know it.

So that’s it.  Pay What You Can Week!  Happy Birthday to me!  And Happy Birthday to Dr. Rolf!  And Happy Rolfing Structural Integration National Awareness Week!  And happy I’m-(probably)-staying-in-the-country-for-the-rest-of-the-year!  I could go on, but we’ll leave it there for now.

Schedule your PWYC sessions the same way you schedule any other sessions.  Click here to schedule online in Denver.  Or leave me a voicemail and I’ll return it when I get back in town.  Either way, get yourself and your friends in for PWYC week and celebrate!  And if you have any questions about anything, just shoot me an email and I’ll get it answered asap.  Much love until I return!

Calling all yoga teachers! Hey there, you.  How’s it going?  If you’re not a yoga fan, and know absolutely nobody who’s a yoga fan, you can skip this paragraph.  Then again, if you don’t know anybody who’s a yoga fan, you either don’t live in Colorado, or you need to get out more.  I’m not trying to be harsh, but it’s true.  Anyways.  Back to the task at hand.  I’m celebrating yoga teachers for a whole week!  I’m calling it…wait for it…wait for it…Yoga Instructor Appreciation Week!  YIAW!  Karate kick optional.  These are the details:  March 1st through March 7th.  $50 sessions.  If you teach yoga, this applies to you.  If you have a friend who teaches yoga, this applies to them.  If you have a yoga teacher, this applies to them, too.  I think you’ve got the idea.  So, if you (or your friend or your teacher) wants a session during this special week, let me know.

Thanks for your help making both Demo Days last week a success!  Next month’s Demo Day will be on Wednesday March 14th.  And it may be the last.  I’m thinking about ending this whole Demo Day thing.  I’m feeling like it’s run its course.  At the same time, I have a lot of fun with them, and it’s not like it’s any trouble for me to host them.  What do you think?  Keep ‘em or let ‘em go?  Weigh in now or risk losing Demo Days forever.

Now, for all the lovely ladies.  Starting the day after YIAW ends (March 8th) is WISH.  Holy acronyms, Batman!  The Women’s International Summit on Health is  an online telesummit that I listened to last year and I thought it was so amazing that I’m sharing it with you this year.  It’s free.  It’s wacky.  It’s fun.  And it’s crazy informative.  It works like this: you sign up to listen to calls for 40 days (or you can listen to 3 in a row if you get behind).  40 different experts; 40 different topics related to women’s health.  The calls are between 30 minutes and an hour long, if I remember correctly.  The topics span a bunch of categories including wisdom, food, relationships, beauty, fitness, abundance, sensuality, health, and attitude.  And while I’m not saying I’ll agree with everything every speaker has to say, I do remember being totally excited about the summit last year.  It changed the way I think about a lot of things.  And, if you’re listening this year, we can talk about it when you come in for your sessions.  So, if you want to be a part of it this year, go here and sign up.  Again, it’s free, so if it turns out you hate it after the first week, you can just stop listening to the calls, with no loss to you.

That’s all I’ve got for you this week, gorgeous!  Catch ya next time!

I don’t know about you, but I think my birthday should be a national holiday.

I’ve got a big birthday coming up.  I’m turning 30 on May 12th.  Yep, I’m a Taurus and I love my birthday.  In fact, I love my birthday month…and the month before my birthday, because my birthday is coming up.  Obviously, it’s a big deal for me.  And because it’s a big deal for me, I want to make it a big deal for you, and share the love.  So here’s the deal:

Since I’m turning 30 on the 12th, 12 lucky people will get $30 sessions.  Yup, you read that right.  I told you it was going to be a good special.

It works like this.  You call me (at 303-261-2568) today, at 1:00 pm.  IF you’re one of the first 12 people to talk to me, we schedule your next session and it costs you only 30 bucks.  Have your calendar handy, ’cause you have to schedule your session in May (and I’m going on a trip to NYC and Baltimore, so availability is slightly limited).  If you call and I don’t answer because I’m on the other line with someone who beat you to it, don’t leave a message.  Call back.  I won’t be checking messages until after all 12 sessions are scheduled.  If you already have an appointment scheduled for May and want it for $30, you still have to be one of the first 12 callers.  And if you’re caller 13 (or 14, or 15, etc.) you’ll have to pay the full $120 for your session.  Also, if you call before 1pm, I’m not going to answer.  Gotta keep the line clear for those that can play by the rules.  I’m a stickler for the rules.

Grand Opening Party!

My new office is just about finished and it’s time to celebrate (in addition to celebrating my birthday).  So, come one, come all to 662 Grant St. on Friday, May 20th between 5:30 and 7:30pm for some champagne and a few things to nibble on.  Stop by for a pre-dinner drink and introduce me to your spouse or that friend who wants to meet your big, scary Rolfer who’s been torturing you.  Can’t wait to see you there!  If you can’t make, just schedule your appointment and get the new office (almost) to yourself for over an hour!
