Commonly asked questions around scheduling are as follows:

Do I have to do the 10-series if I want to try Rolfing?

Nope.  The 10-series is a beautiful full-body tune up and I recommend everyone try it at some point in their life.  However, it’s not always an appropriate place to start in your healing journey.  Custom/as-needed sessions are the other option, and one that some people choose to stay with indefinitely.  We can discuss the differences and what’s most appropriate for you during your first session (or at anytime thereafter).

More information can be found in this article: 10-Series or Custom? What’s the right path for me?

How many sessions will it take to resolve my issue?

Having never worked with you and your body, I have no idea.  There are plenty of issues that can be resolved with one to three sessions.  There are chronic conditions, like scoliosis, that should be maintained forever, as needed.  If your issue has been going on for more than a year, it probably won’t be completely resolved in a single 90-minute session, but I’m always trying to unwind a tangled pattern as quickly as your body can handle.  After the first session or two, we will both have a much better idea of how your body responds to this work, and what we can expect going forward.  You’ll also have a better sense of whether or not I’m a good practitioner for you to work with, which is important.  However, while we might not resolve a 20-year-old issue in one 90-minute session, you should notice some improvement within a few days of your first session.  The ability to breathe a little deeper, or a great night’s sleep, or less pain.  If you don’t notice any improvement to your wellness after your session, then either I am not a great practitioner for you, or Rolfing is probably not a good fit for you.  Either way, you should probably invest your energy elsewhere going forward.

Do you offer packages?

I don’t.  It’s simply pay as you go for each session.

What’s your cancelation policy?

Any sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be billed in full.  Please cancel or reschedule your appointments as far in advance as possible so that appointment time can be made available to another client.

Do you work with kids/pregnant people/the elderly?

Yes, yes, yes.  I work with anyone who wants to feel better in their body.  I’ve done sessions with people two weeks to 89 years old, so far.  And I’ve worked with many pregnant and postpartum women in various stages and for various reasons.

What should I wear for my sessions?

I work with people while they’re clothed.  It’s best to wear soft, loose, comfortable clothing to your session.

Do you accept insurance?

The short answer is no.  I don’t do any insurance billing myself.  I’m happy to provide receipts and treatment notes if you’d like to pursue reimbursement on your own.  Most HSA’s and FlexSpending accounts can be used for Rolfing sessions.  Otherwise, cash, check, Venmo, Zelle, and credit card are all acceptable forms of payment.

How can I best prepare for my session?

If you’re going to exercise around your session, please do so beforehand.  I ask for at least 24 hours after a session for integration with no strenuous movement, but 48 hours is preferred.  Also, hydration matters, both before and afterwards, and for your whole life.  Please try to drink some water, friend.  Feel free to check out this article for more tips: How to Make the Most of Your Rolfing Session.

How long does a session last?

A standard Healing Session is 90 minutes, while an Extended Session (only for people who’ve already had a few sessions and know what to expect) is two hours.  Approximately 15-20 minutes of any session will be dedicated to intake beforehand and integration and discussion afterwards.  The remainder will be hands-on healing time.

I heard Rolfing is painful.  Will it hurt?

While Rolfing can be intense, it will always be a conversation between the two of us.  If you find yourself clenching, holding your breath, or going off to your happy place (disassociation), it is too much and I need you to tell me.  You should be able to breathe and stay present through our work together.  Many of my clients fall asleep during their sessions, which is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged.

What should I expect after my session?

Many people feel tired and thirsty after a Rolfing session.  It’s important to hydrate well after a session, and if you can find the space in your day to take a nap or go to bed early that evening, it can be very helpful.  Essentially, you want to listen to what your body is asking for.  If you’re hungry, eat.  If you want to move or stretch, do so.  Just avoid any exercise that’s too intensive for 24-48 hours after each session.  If you’re sore (or think you might be), an Epsom salt soak can help.

“Upon initially noticing an imbalance in my lower back from sitting at a desk all day, I reached out to a friend for recommendations on treatment. He advised me to explore Rolfing and to consider scheduling a session. At that point, I was unfamiliar with Rolfing and uncertain about its benefits. After searching for a local practitioner in Denver, I discovered Theresa. During our first appointment, she quickly identified the imbalance and began her work. Following significant relief, I would return to see her whenever I felt misaligned. Now, six or seven years later, I consistently visit Theresa to maintain my structural balance. I eagerly anticipate each session, which may vary depending on my current condition. Although I still spend long hours at a desk, I no longer endure the lower back pain that once plagued me daily. Rolfing has entirely supplanted traditional massages in my routing, and I highly recommend visiting Theresa to experience the transformative effects of Rolfing.”
